Many homes built prior to 1978 contain lead-based paint. If you plan to remodel, renovate, or repaint your home, you may want to have the paint in your home tested for lead in order to determine if it may be hazardous. Scraping or sanding surfaces that contain lead-based paint may deposit high levels of lead in household dust or in the air, creating a hazard for occupants and visitors.
Anatek Labs, Inc. can test for lead in your household paint. We recommend scraping an area of about 4 inches by 4 inches of paint (or 50 grams) from an inconspicuous location, such as a door frame or closet. Place the scraped paint into a ziplock baggie and fill out the chain of custody:
